Abi and Stephen hosted a beautiful and intimate wedding at First Presbyterian Church surrounded by the closest of their family and friends as Summer drew to a close. As a Columbus Wedding Photographer, I get to see a lot of love stories unfold but this one goes down in the books!

Their Backstory

Abi and Stephen both moved to Columbus separately to go to school at Columbus State University, having no idea that their future spouse would be studying just down the hall. They both went to the same church in Columbus and got to know each other in the young adult group. After being “just friends” for a few years, they realized that there was something really unique and special about their friendship and decided to give it a try!

After dating for about a year, Stephen popped the question while they were on a walk along the romantic and picturesque Riverwalk.

The Big Day

Abi and Stephen got ready in separate rooms only a couple of walls away from each other. When Abi and all her bridesmaids were getting ready, they all enjoyed hearing fun (and slightly embarrassing) stories about when Abi was growing up.

Abi’s sister (Abi’s maid of honor) also had the opportunity to show the rest of the bridesmaids the scrapbook of their parents’ wedding, when their mom wore the exact same dress that Abi was about to put on just 45 minutes later!

Abi did a dress reveal for her bridesmaids and as soon as she walked in the room, they all burst into the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen and screamed with delight. Right afterward, Abi’s father came in to see his daughter in his wife’s dress for the last time before she was married. It was a beautiful moment filled with emotion and nostalgia.

As the first kiss was getting closer, Abi could barely contain her excitement and was practically bouncing up and down with anticipation! This was one of my favorite moments of the day and made for some really incredible pictures that captured that unique and special moment.

About 2 weeks before the wedding, a lot of Abi and Stephen’s family members tested positive for COVID-19, so out of an abundance of caution, they decided to slim down the guest list to have a smaller and more intimate ceremony.

This created a beautiful and unique atmosphere filled with love and excitement!  However, they decided to not have a reception, which meant that Abi couldn’t have the special dance with her bridesmaids that she had always imagined. But her bridesmaids still made sure to find a way!

While we were taking group pictures, Abi and her girls all had a mini dance party and gave Abi that special moment she had always wanted!

Then after we had finished all the pictures, Abi changed into her “getaway dress” and she and Stephen walked through a romantic tunnel of bubbles blown by the wedding guests on their way to their honeymoon and the first day of forever together.
